5.5.35- Upgrade org.apache.tomcat:tomcat to this version or later
Description
Apache Tomcat 5.5.x before 5.5.35, 6.x before 6.0.34, and 7.x before 7.0.23 uses an inefficient approach for handling parameters, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) via a request that contains many parameters and parameter values, a different vulnerability than CVE-2011-4858.
Affected versions
Maven
| Package | Vulnerable | Fixed in |
|---|---|---|
| org.apache.tomcat:tomcat | >= 5.5.0, < 5.5.35 |
5.5.35 |
| org.apache.tomcat:tomcat | >= 6.0.0, < 6.0.34 |
6.0.34 |
| org.apache.tomcat:tomcat | >= 7.0.0, < 7.0.23 |
7.0.23 |
How to fix
Move to the fixed version or later with your package manager, update the lockfile, and run your tests. If the package only arrives through another dependency, upgrade that dependency first. If none of its releases pulls a fixed version yet, force the version with your package manager's override.
org.apache.tomcat:tomcat Maven → 5.5.35
- maven
<dependency><groupId>org.apache.tomcat</groupId><artifactId>tomcat</artifactId><version>5.5.35</version></dependency>- gradle
implementation("org.apache.tomcat:tomcat:5.5.35")
