CWE-287 Improper Authentication
Fix
5.5.36
Upgrade org.apache.tomcat:tomcat-catalina to this version or later

Description

The HTTP Digest Access Authentication implementation in Apache Tomcat 5.5.x before 5.5.36, 6.x before 6.0.36, and 7.x before 7.0.30 caches information about the authenticated user within the session state, which makes it easier for remote attackers to bypass authentication via vectors related to the session ID.

How to fix

Move to the fixed version or later with your package manager, update the lockfile, and run your tests. If the package only arrives through another dependency, upgrade that dependency first. If none of its releases pulls a fixed version yet, force the version with your package manager's override.

org.apache.tomcat:tomcat-catalina Maven → 5.5.36

maven
<dependency><groupId>org.apache.tomcat</groupId><artifactId>tomcat-catalina</artifactId><version>5.5.36</version></dependency>
gradle
