26.2.8- Upgrade org.keycloak:keycloak-services to this version or later
Description
Special characters used during e-mail registration may perform SMTP Injection and unexpectedly send short unwanted e-mails. The email is limited to 64 characters (limited local part of the email), so the attack is limited to very shorts emails (subject and little data, the example is 60 chars). This flaw's only direct consequence is an unsolicited email being sent from the Keycloak server. However, this action could be a precursor for more sophisticated attacks.
Affected versions
Maven
| Package | Vulnerable | Fixed in |
|---|---|---|
| org.keycloak:keycloak-services | < 26.2.8 |
26.2.8 |
| org.keycloak:keycloak-services | >= 26.3.0, < 26.3.3 |
26.3.3 |
How to fix
Move to the fixed version or later with your package manager, update the lockfile, and run your tests. If the package only arrives through another dependency, upgrade that dependency first. If none of its releases pulls a fixed version yet, force the version with your package manager's override.

Weakness
CWE-93: Improper Neutralization of CRLF Sequences ('CRLF Injection')
The product uses CRLF (carriage return line feeds) as a special element, e.g. to separate lines or records, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes CRLF sequences from inputs.
How to prevent it
- Implementation: Avoid using CRLF as a special sequence.
- Implementation: Appropriately filter or quote CRLF sequences in user-controlled input.
