Description

The SimpleCaptcha implementation in Liferay Portal 7.3.4, 7.3.5 and Liferay DXP 7.3 before fix pack 1 does not invalidate CAPTCHA answers after it is used, which allows remote attackers to repeatedly perform actions protected by a CAPTCHA challenge by reusing the same CAPTCHA answer.

How to fix

Move to the fixed version or later with your package manager, update the lockfile, and run your tests. If the package only arrives through another dependency, upgrade that dependency first. If none of its releases pulls a fixed version yet, force the version with your package manager's override.

com.liferay.portal:release.dxp.bom Maven → 7.3.10.fp1

maven
<dependency><groupId>com.liferay.portal</groupId><artifactId>release.dxp.bom</artifactId><version>7.3.10.fp1</version></dependency>
gradle
