Description

Docker before 1.3.1 and docker-py before 0.5.3 fall back to HTTP when the HTTPS connection to the registry fails, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to conduct downgrade attacks and obtain authentication and image data by leveraging a network position between the client and the registry to block HTTPS traffic.

How to fix

Move to the fixed version or later with your package manager, update the lockfile, and run your tests. If the package only arrives through another dependency, upgrade that dependency first. If none of its releases pulls a fixed version yet, force the version with your package manager's override.

github.com/docker/docker Go → 1.3.1

go
go get github.com/docker/docker@v1.3.1 && go mod tidy

docker-py PyPI → 0.5.3

pip
pip install --upgrade "docker-py>=0.5.3"
poetry
poetry add "docker-py>=0.5.3"
uv
uv add "docker-py>=0.5.3"
