Description

Spring Framework running version 6.0.0 - 6.0.6 or 5.3.0 - 5.3.25 using "**" as a pattern in Spring Security configuration with the mvcRequestMatcher creates a mismatch in pattern matching between Spring Security and Spring MVC, and the potential for a security bypass.

How to fix

Move to the fixed version or later with your package manager, update the lockfile, and run your tests. If the package only arrives through another dependency, upgrade that dependency first. If none of its releases pulls a fixed version yet, force the version with your package manager's override.

org.springframework:spring Maven → 6.0.7

maven
<dependency><groupId>org.springframework</groupId><artifactId>spring</artifactId><version>6.0.7</version></dependency>
gradle
implementation("org.springframework:spring:6.0.7")

org.springframework:spring-webmvc Maven → 6.0.7

maven
<dependency><groupId>org.springframework</groupId><artifactId>spring-webmvc</artifactId><version>6.0.7</version></dependency>
gradle
implementation("org.springframework:spring-webmvc:6.0.7")
