Upgrade drupal/core to this version or later

Description

By generating and tricking a user into visiting a malicious URL, an attacker can perform site defacement.

The defacement is not stored and is only present when the URL has been crafted for that purpose. Only the defacement is present, so no other site content (such as branding) is rendered.

How to fix

Move to the fixed version or later with your package manager, update the lockfile, and run your tests. If the package only arrives through another dependency, upgrade that dependency first. If none of its releases pulls a fixed version yet, force the version with your package manager's override.

Weakness

CWE-451: User Interface (UI) Misrepresentation of Critical Information

The user interface (UI) does not properly represent critical information to the user, allowing the information - or its source - to be obscured or spoofed. This is often a component in phishing attacks.

How to prevent it
  • Implementation: Perform data validation (e.g. syntax, length, etc.) before interpreting the data.
  • Architecture and Design: Create a strategy for presenting information, and plan for how to display unusual characters.
